This rejuvenated countryside property in Kent undertook a full exterior makeover as part of a considerable extension project. The homeowners wished to replace all the property’s tired looking timber sash windows, some of which were original. Westbury specified their Heritage Sash Windows featuring sharp lines, flush joints and traditional ovolo mouldings.
Set in a conservation area it was required that the windows were of a suitable period style to reflect and replace that of the original Edwardian design, whilst double glazed to provide suitable thermal performance. The Edwardian glazing bar design gives an increased sense of grandeur.
The property also required a new entrance door. To emphasise the position of the door as the central focus of the property’s frontage the door was set back and framed with bold, detailed pilaster columns with cornice and dental blocking above. This in combination with the original restored beams created a striking entrance to the property. The door features fully insulated panels for greater thermal performance, key turn espagnolette multi-point locking and stylish brushed chrome ironmongery.
All timber windows and the entrance door were finished in Westbury White, giving a light and fresh aesthetic. They are painted with three coats of Westbury micro-porous paint providing excellent protection, whilst requiring only minimum maintenance to promote longevity. All were manufactured using engineered clear Redwood, which is extremely durable and stable and chosen to provide the greatest longevity for the product.
