A Concrete recap
The final event in the 2014 series of Concrete Elegance took place on 2 December. Hosted by David Bennett, the evening featured John Henry Brookes Building at Oxford Brookes University, by Design Engine and the Issam Fares Institute in Beirut by Zaha Hadid Architects.
Over 300 people registered to hear explanations by the architects of the design development of each of these exemplary education buildings and their use of concrete. While worlds apart in terms of context and location, it was interesting to note similarities in consideration of procession, place making as well as material expression.
Further details of each project can be found in issue no. 249 of Concrete Quarterly
