Colman diffusers meet air flow criteria for state-of-the-art radiotherapy centre

News
Colman louvres, diffusers and toilet valves have been used extensively throughout the new £17million Christie radiotherapy centre based at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Over 200 standard white ‘S’ Series of louvre faced diffusers, grilles and toilet valves for both supply and extract air have been installed throughout the centres’ wards, corridors, and treatment rooms. The drop faced diffusers addressed the requirement for excellent air distribution and were compatible with the specified ceiling grid system whilst meeting architectural aesthetics.

The Christie at Oldham stipulated strict airflow criteria and robust units. Colman’s diffusers are manufactured from high quality aluminium and constructed with mitred and welded corners to provide maximum strength and rigidity.
Colman’s diffusers integrate with most types of ceiling systems with frame styles that cater for surface, recessed, T-Bar or threadline mounting

The Christie at Oldham is a ground breaking facility and the first of its kind in the UK – and it is also the first in a unique network of Christie radiotherapy centres.  A second Christie radiotherapy centre is currently being built at Salford Royal and will open later this year.

Up to 70 patients per day from Oldham, Bury, Rochdale, North Manchester, Middleton and parts of Tameside can now access first class radiotherapy treatment from Christie experts but much closer to home.  It houses two state-of-the-art radiotherapy machines – the most advanced of their kind in the world.
