Leading timber-flooring brand, Atkinson & Kirby has supplied its Caledonian range of oak flooring to the new City of Glasgow College campus central atrium.
City of Glasgow College’s new Cathedral Street campus, in the heart of Glasgow’s Learning Quarter is one of the largest in Scotland.
Designed for 40,000 students, the new college super campus includes technologically advanced facilities that blend seamlessly with the vast, open-plan teaching environment, making it an inspiring space to teach and learn.
The inclusion of Atkinson & Kirby’s flooring works perfectly with the modern interior of the college, and the high level of quality means the floor will be able to cope well with the vast footfall of students throughout the space.
The installation, handled by GL Floors based in Edinburgh, was fitted with Atkinson & Kirby’s Caledonian range, and was selected as the flooring of choice near to the stairs in the Central Atrium. To blend with the modern décor of the college, the range was chosen to compliment the stunning oak panelling on the walls in the open-plan atrium and internal roof spaces.

Available in solid and engineered, Atkinson & Kirby’s Caledonian range has a selection of species, including oak, maple, walnut and blacknut, as well as a range of finishes such as lacquered, handscraped, brushed and oiled. The thicknesses also range from 14/2.5mm to 20/6mm and widths 90mm and 207mm.
