Cedia sponsors ‘intelligent homes and workplaces’ at the Building Centre

News
CEDIA, the professional body representing the residential home automation and integration sector, is the headline sponsor of the ‘Intelligent Homes and Workplaces’ exhibition at The Building Centre in central London (20th November to 31st January). To be opened by Sir Terry Farrell at an invitation-only event on the 20th November, the exhibition will focus on incorporating intelligent, convenient and sustainable solutions for automating electronic systems around the home and office.

CEDIA, the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association, is an international trade association representing those involved with the planning, design, supply, installation, integration, concealment and control of automated electronic systems for the modern, intelligent home. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to find out more information on CEDIA, its members and the residential custom installation industry as a whole.

The Building Centre attracts, on average, 2,000 visitors per week, 75% of whom are architects, interior designers or other professionals. A further 20% are self builders. For further information visit www.buildingcentre.co.uk. “CEDIA is lending its support to this prestigious exhibition as part of its outreach programme to strengthen relationships with other professionals, including architects and interior designers” explains Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director of CEDIA. “We will also be educating them as to the benefits of automated systems for the home and working with CEDIA members through our CPD course.”

CEDIA will be presenting its RIBA accredited CPD course ‘Designing Integrated Future-Ready Homes’ during the event as part of the exhibition’s conference programme. The course is a customised CPD course from CEDIA that offers architects, interior designers, specifiers, developers and other trade professionals the chance to gain a comprehensive and clear understanding of the key concepts behind audio-visual, lighting, security, HVAC, blind control and other technologies in the home, their integration and the structured wiring solutions required for all these applications.

CEDIA is an international trade organisation spanning three continents with a global membership of more than 4,000 companies. Founded in 1989 in the United States, CEDIA came to the UK in 1996 and today CEDIA Region 1 boasts over 420 members in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, India and Africa. CEDIA members can install anything from multi-room audio systems and home cinemas to complete home networks and sub-systems which intelligently control lighting, security, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), and even garden facilities, from lighting to watering.
