Causeway Stage Partner for Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam

21 Feb 2012
News
Bourne End, Bucks, UK – 21st February 2012:, Causeway, the leading software supplier for the built environment, is sponsoring and participating in the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam, supported by Virgin Media. The Causeway team will be led by CEO Phil Brown, Chairman Peter Nagle and COO Paul Madeira along with at least five other cyclists from Causeway.

Lawrence Dallaglio comments:

“I’m delighted to have Causeway along on the Cycle Slam again and to see so many new faces joining Peter, Phil and Paul.  We had a lot of fun together last time raising huge sums for great causes. Camaraderie is absolutely essential to help everybody through the hardest parts of the ride and a little push for each other along the route does not hurt either.  We’re very grateful for all Causeway’s support, both financially and mentally, when the going gets particularly tough.”

Between April 23rd and May 18th, Causeway’s riders will join Laurence Dallaglio and Freddie Flintoff on their epic 2,872 km cycle from Olympia to London, in support of Dallagilio, Flintoff and Virgin Unite Foundations, which are working for Cancer Research (International Cancer Genome Consortium ), Great Ormond Street (Child Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy Unit) and helping young people  to tackle tough social and environmental problems.  The route will involve 22 days of riding, across some rough terrain for an average of 131 km per day and a total of nearly 27,000 metres of climbing, (3 times taller than mount Everest).

Causeway CEO, Phil Brown, comments:

“We’re very excited and proud to be a sponsor of the Cycle Slam again.  We know from first-hand experience that it’s an enormously challenging undertaking so we are delighted to support Laurence and Freddie on both the ride and in their fund-raising.”

In 2010, Causeway Riders cycled over 1500km of the Cycle Slam, managing to raise £137,000 through a combination of corporate sponsorship and fund-raising.  On returning home, Phil Brown called it “the most challenging and yet most fulfilling event I have ever competed in.”

Peter Nagle will be cycling the entire event, Phil Brown and Paul Madeira will do three stages between them and other Causeway riders are taking on a Stage each. Together, they hope to raise even more than last time, to support Laurence and Freddie’s target of £2,012,000.
