Under the National Academies Framework, Balfour Beatty has won three design and build contracts from the County Council, and is using commercial kitchen sub-contractor CHR Equipment to undertake the catering element in all three projects.
CHR Equipment has a reputation for optimising budgets yet achieving energy-efficient kitchens- a reputation which compliments Lincolnshire County Council’s approach, already implemented in 10 of its primary and secondary schools. The new Academy kitchens CHR has designed and will be installing all feature induction cooking and combination ovens to maximise energy efficiency, combined with an open-plan design to accelerate service, reduce queuing and add value to the students’ dining experience.
Neil Sampson, Balfour Beatty senior quantity surveyor on the Lincolnshire contract comments, “We have worked with CHR Equipment in the past; with the fast-track nature of the Lincolnshire contract, we needed someone who understood our ethos, would work in partnership with us, and deliver the quality, on time and in budget.”
The Lincolnshire contracts are the latest in a line of major projects for CHR Equipment, including design and build of a new integrated refreshment zone at Dudley College, and additional facilities at Cadbury World, where it installed a new kitchen last year which went on to win a national industry award for sustainability.
Founded 20 years ago, CHR Equipment (www.chrequipment.co.uk) has built a reputation for consistently delivering practical solutions, applying innovative thinking and utilizing developments in technology to create commercial catering solutions on time and to budget whether new build or refurbishment of a hotel or college through to the upper echelons of Michelin-starred establishments and stadia It has, for three years in succession, won national CEDA (Catering Equipment Distributors Association) Awards, each in a different category.
