Landsea, a leading developer of green buildings in China, has been shortlisted for the 2016 Ashden International Awards - the world’s most prestigious green awards.
Among the Top 100 Real Estate developers in China, Landsea is a founding member of the China Green Building Council and owns over 150 patents in building technologies. Established in 2001, Landsea has been led by its green strategy, installing insulation, efficient air conditioning and ventilation systems as standard in the 2.5 million square meters of buildings that it has developed.
China will account for about half of the new construction globally in the coming decade and Landsea are providing comfortable, affordable homes in a challenging climate.
According to Landsea’s Yuanjian Xie: "We prioritise being humanistic, green and bringing sunshine to people’s lives. We constantly research and explore China's green and sustainable building industry, how we can make green buildings accessible to everyone and we apply the results of this research to commercial development. In the future, we hope that an Ashden Award will allow us to continue our focus on sustainable buildings in China and the rest of Asia!”
A total of 11 Ashden Award winners will be announced at a prestigious Awards Ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 9 June 2016. Winners will receive up to £30,000 and global recognition as one of 2016’s green energy trailblazers.
The shortlist for the 2016 Ashden UK Awards is also announced today.
Sarah Butler-Sloss, Ashden’s Founder Director, said: “This year's shortlist is one of our most exciting ever and the enterprises and programmes that have made it this far are amazing leaders at the very forefront of a low carbon future.”
