Winners were presented with their wall shields at the Tower of London, where they were entertained and awarded by TV Botanist, Professor David Bellamy, OBE.
Commenting on the success, the judges said: "Distribution companies have always struggled to put forward a green image, but yet again Arrow has achieved excellent standards through its Reducing Electrical Energy Use project. By encouraging and training staff to turn off machines and adjusting working patterns to make use of daylight, the company has saved almost 50 tonnes of CO2 production and over £10,000.”
Simon Smith, Health, Safety and Training Officer at Arrow said, “The project was easily implemented and it shows that simple energy efficiency drives don’t have to cost much and can save thousands. Next year I am looking forward to improving our results.”
The award-winning project will be featured in the next Green Book, the world’s only work of reference on environmental best practice.
National Organiser Roger Wolens commented; “Organisations that go the extra mile and become Green Heroes are demonstrating a serious commitment to the world around them. They invest in a better future for us all and deserve to be recognised for their efforts.”
