Ahmarra Door Solutions manufactured over 70 fire doors with ironmongery for Wellington Health Centre in London - a newly-built NHS Primary Care Centre designed by Moss Architecture. The client chose a combination of Formica® laminate and American Cherry veneer finishes for their Q-Mark certified fire doorsets. The American Cherry veneered doorsets had lippings that were specifically stained to match the veneer. Formica’s Cassis - a stylish muted purple colour - was selected for the high-pressure laminate doors, in keeping with the centre’s contemporary interior design. Manufactured from sustainably sourced FSC® certified timber, the doors were supplied with fully compatible ironmongery, including door furniture, closing devices and locks.
The key requirements when designing these specialist performance doors, were fire resistance and infection control, so they have a combination of FD30 and FD60 fire ratings, as well as easy-to-clean finishes. In a busy healthcare environment, durability and noise reduction were also crucial considerations, so all of the doors have a severe-duty core, robust facings and kick plates, plus 30-35RwdB acoustic ratings.
Ahmarra manufactured doors for the whole health centre, including the consultation & treatment rooms, waiting rooms, circulation areas, toilet & baby changing rooms, offices and storerooms.
Storm Building sub-contracted Avi Contracts who selected Ahmarra to manufacture the doors, having completed a number of successful projects together in the past, including the Royal Veterinary College.
