Leading internal door manufacturer, Ahmarra has achieved the highly prized ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.
Managing Director, Tim Doran said, “we are delighted to achieve ISO 14001. It recognises our strong commitment to excellent standards in health & safety and our efforts to minimise our impact on the environment. This coupled with our existing certifications is the seal of approval that shows our quality and environmental systems are reliable and well managed”.
ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard for an effective Environmental Management System (EMS).
“Ahmarra recognises that our business does not exist in isolation and we share our customers' concern for sustaining the Earth's resources. We are committed to operating in a way that minimises potential harm to the environment, whilst ensuring our business has the potential to succeed” said Tim Doran.
Ahmarra were one of the first companies in the UK to realise the financial and ecological benefits of Biomass energy by installing their original boiler in 1998 and an even more efficient boiler has now been installed to further improve their environmental performance. This boiler is used to heat the facility by using wood chip waste from the factory. Other initiatives include only using wood from responsibly managed forests and ensuring that our materials are certified by the FSC®. Waste is also kept to a minimum and recycling techniques are used wherever possible.
Tim Doran commented “Although the initial financial outlay of the biomass boilers was significant, we consider them to be an investment in the long-term future of the company. We take pride in our excellent Green Credentials in terms of door manufacturing and we will continue to look for future innovations to improve our environmental performance”.
