Arrow’s fourth Green Apple Award will be presented at the House of Commons later this year. The company will also be invited to join the National Green Heroes, an elite group of environmental achievers who use their experience to help thousands of others – and the environment – around the world.
Simon Smith, Health, Safety and Training Officer explained the key to Arrow’s success. “We work extremely hard to over deliver on environmental targets. This year we concentrated on returning and recycling all packaging materials from the kitchen appliances and bathroom furniture and equipment that we supplied and installed for our customers. This resulted in us recycling over 55 tonnes of additional packaging per year. Indirectly, the initiative also saved approximately 20 tonnes of CO2 vehicle emissions by reducing skip collections from our customers’ sites around the country”.
The Green Apple Awards are now in their fifteenth year and attracted more than 500 nominations this year. They are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
